Stupid Photoshop

Reading online, I discovered that Photoshop CS intentionally disabled the feature that allowed CS files to be previewed as a thumbnail in Windows Explorer.

This is almost enough to prevent me from ever upgrading.

The reasoning behind this is, they want you to use their file browser. But I hate their file browser, and when I am just trying to look for a certain picture, and can't remember if it's a psd file or not, and have no intention of using CS to open it, it's stupid to have to open Photoshop.

I've used the file browser at school, and it leaves much to be desired. :P

I'm hoping someone comes out with a program that truly competes with Photoshop soon, because they are getting way too full of themselves. In the meantime, I have the option of simply not upgrading. There are a few features I like in CS, but not enough.

Blah. Stupid Companies....

Postscript...

Maybe this isn't an issue on the Mac. When I've searched for it, it all refers to PC. So, maybe, when I own a nice Mac again, I'll be able to get CS anyway.

course, that's all many years in the future.

The Benjamin Franklin Chair

I want to make one of these chairs: Lines wood links US. I've been looking for plans to build one, which I am convinced SHOULD be readily available because it was invented by Benjamin Franklin, and he didn't patent any of his inventions.

I'd love one for my kitchen, and I've seen them for sale, but they're usually over $100. I will make one one of these days!

Curtains

Boy, is my life boring. Today, I went to school, went to a nursary (saw a lot but didn't buy anything) and made curtains.

I love it though. I hope to get a lot done this summer, especially after school ends. Number on on the list is to get the bedroom and the kitchen painted.

And, of course, I need to paint some paintings... I like the idea of drawings more, though, so I'll probably do more of those.

La.

AAARRRGHHHH! (computers drive me crazy again)

Feel better now.

Computers are driving me insane today. I could not get my laptop on the network at work today- gonna have to take it in Saturday so the computer guy can look at it. And at home, Dreamweaver was doing the most bizarre thing- it just wouldn't show the pages in the design view correctly no matter what I did. It had something to do with the fact that they were include files, and so had no html and body tags, because when I added them, it worked fine. And while it displays ok in the browser, it bugs me because *I* know the source code looks stupid, even if no one else does.

Not that I have the cleanest source code anyway...

Very bizarre, though. It just would not show the first few lines of text, no matter what I did. It would show the code in the HTML view, and I could see it if I previewed in a brower, but not in design virw.

Things like that make me feel like I am going insane, absolutely insane. They also make me feel like throwing my computer out the window.

You know, I still can't type without looking at the keys. How have I managed all these years?

Better

Not as tired today... at least in the morning, when I was tired before. I took a 2 hour nap this evening, I meant to only lay down for a half hour or so.

Oops.

Tomorrow I am working at the old job (art store) helping them get set up at the new location. I've been offered an assistant framer position there, and it's tempting to take it. The pay would be less, but the job is SO much less stressful. :P In the meantime, though, I told them that I would work 5-10 hours a week... I want to keep my options open, and more work can never hurt. It's not like I do much productive with my free time. Plus, I really like framing, and maybe I could even get certified?

This weekend we'll be going to the Omaha Summer Arts Festival. The Prairie Cats and Mezcal Brothers will be performing... but not while we are there. Damn. Geoff won't be off till 5, so we'll miss most of the musical acts I'd like to see. The fact that Geoff works every Saturday is really annoying sometimes.

One more link- I've been watching a lot of the Egg the Arts Show on Trio (Thanks DVR!) - they have a pretty interesting website: www.pbs.org/wnet/egg/

I think my cat doesn't like me singing. Whenever I'm singing along to a song loudly (yet another reason to love being in a house rather than an apartment) my cat starts meowing and jumps on my lap. does she like it? Or is she trying to get me to shut up? hmmm.
